Day 11 - Mountains

Maisan - The horse ear mountain.

This is an owl... this was the closest i'd ever gotten to an owl. always makes me sad to see wild critters forlornly sitting in cages.
Anyways, yesterday i went on a little outting to a mountain called maisan. it's in a national park, in the middle of korea rleatively far south of seoul. i had no idea where we were going really, but 3 hours on a bus *groan* and i knew it wasn't anywhere near seoul.
It was BEAUTIFUL.. photos will be uploaded unto flickr when i get back to hk. for now, stare into the eyes of this tiny little owl and wonder at the cruelty of life lol.
The mountain was heart wrenchingly beautiful, but afterwards the tour dragged us to a ginseng factory where i had to sit through an hour of the the "expert's" sales pitch. ginseng is the miracle cure all. it literally can fix everything from cancer to dandruff.. so buy our ginseng today!
anyways we didn't fall for it lol.. not at those prices. after hours spent on the bus (and my arse feels flattened from all that sitting), i was exhuasted when i got home. good news.. i seem to have lost a kilo in the effort lol.
Man i love Korean fall. it's not perfect, many trees aren't turning the beautiful shades of red or gold. global warming is effecting things. mom was saying how 20 years ago, it was so different. nowadays the trees are just shrivelling up instead of really changing colour. the forests are dying. even i remember when entire mountains used to be red and gold. now they have some red and some gold but alot of brown and shrivelled green. sad.. we're destroying out world..
